In August, 2008, Jeffrey J. Nash (who happens to be Forest Whitaker's father-in-law) was visiting his daughter Keisha and his granddaughters in Los Angeles, California. While watching his granddaughters play soccer, he happened to notice a mother bending over to help her baby learn how to walk. Although he had seen this affectionate and healthful act between parent and child many times before, this particular time sparked an idea that soon became the Juppy.

The Juppy is a baby walker that allows you to assist your child in learning how to walk without hurting your back. Since I have illeotibial band syndrome, I especially can see the importance of this clever invention. It keep stress off your legs too!

The Juppy comes in two colors–blue and pink. It is constructed with durable, high-quality, easy-to-clean fabric. It comes in one size (recommended ages are 7 to 13 months) and has adjustable straps to match the parent's height. Each one comes with a handy drawstring carrying bag which makes it easy to stow away in your purse or diaper bag.

The Juppy has been instrumental for children with walking disabilities. Juppy has provided several physical therapy clinics with samples of the Juppy and the therapists that work with these kids found them very helpful. Juppy sent us one blue Juppy baby walker to review. I was happy with how cute it looked and how sturdy the material was. And I was glad it came with the drawstring storage bag because it made it very easy to pack without worrying about the Juppy's straps getting tangled or wrapped around anything.

As soon as I received the Juppy in the mail, I was excited to test run it. I immediately put the Little Mister in it (it has a zipper on the back for slipping him in and out easily) and assisted him walking with it. Unfortunately, it was right before his nap and he didn't appreciate his mom's enthusiasm at the moment. So I put him down for a nap.

Just after the big Mister got home from work, the Little Mister woke up. So I put him in the Juppy again and gave it a try. Now that he was well-rested, he had a blast! He caught on that I was supporting him with it so he began jabbering away and hopping.

The Little Mister really enjoyed it, squealing and laughing and having all kinds of fun. I appreciated that I could feel through the straps how much of his own weight the Little Mister was carrying. I also appreciated the fact that the Juppy did indeed give my back and aching legs a break.

I learned that the Juppy is safer than traditional baby walkers. I have heard many stories of babies hitting the little "bump" where the carpet meets the tile in the kitchen in their traditional baby walker (the kind with wheels) and tipping it. Or crashing into things and knocking things over onto themselves or destroying furniture. For these reasons, my husband and I decided not to get a traditional baby walker. And we are very happy that the Juppy helps strengthen his legs equally as well (or even better).
