Hello, world! I am so excited to be featured on TJ’s Blogger Spotlight! Thanks for the invite, TJ!
My name is Crystal. I’m typing this with my left hand, and there’s currently a baby on my boob. Like, at this very moment. This is why, about six weeks ago, I started blogging. As I started my breastfeeding journey, I wrote down everything I was learning. I wanted to have a reference to go to if I had trouble breastfeeding – with my daughter, Charlotte, or any other children in the future. And we definitely had some difficulties at first! I passed along my document to a couple of friends, and they found the breastfeeding info helpful. I’ve been nursing for almost a year now.
I started to collect information on other topics that I felt were important. My husband calls
these “crunchy” – like the granola. Sometimes, he calls them “over the top.” I’m okay with that. I have never bought a jar of baby food – we make our own. In the past year, we have switched over to organic foods whenever possible. This summer, we started buying mostly organic and local meats. I am careful about bath products, lotions, and sunscreens. While I love the smell of Pine-Sol, my next focus will be researching household cleaners.
While my biggest loves are my baby, my husband, and my dog, I have another love. I am a school
psychologist, and I am lucky enough to work in my hometown and a neighboring community. I get to help kids every day, and then come home to my family every evening. And I get summers off. You can’t beat that! I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in counseling and organizational psychology, and a specialist degree in school psychology. As the school year gets started again, I plan to post on new research and special education information that I think you might find interesting. I’m open to ideas – so feel free to send any questions and suggestions my way!
