You have no doubt at least heard the name of Rebecca St. James. Born in Australia, Rebecca has won the Grammy Award and multiple Dove Awards with her internationally successful singing and song-writing talent. She was dubbed Favorite Female Artist in January of 2008 by CCM Magazine for the seventh year in a row and she won Best Female Artist of 2007 by ChristianityToday.com for the fifth time in a row. She was also the voice behind Hope the Angel in Veggie Tales’ bestselling DVD production The Easter Carol.

But did you know that Rebecca is also a bestselling author? Her book, What Is He Thinking?? gives an in-depth glimpse into one of God’s most unusual creatures–men!

I was sent one copy of Rebecca St. James’ book What Is He Thinking?? to review.

Rebecca has a friendly, first-person voice in this book–almost like a friend speaking to another friend. Throughout the book, she highlights interviews and conversations she had with past boyfriends and various male friends. Her interviews take her into the hearts and minds of both single and married Christian men to get the word out to women just what these silly boys are thinking!

Although the book is aimed mostly towards a young, single female audience, even I as a young, married female reaped from the wisdom that the book had to offer. Here is a list of some the things Rebecca sought from these gentlemen:

What is the most attractive quality to you in a woman?
Is modesty truly attractive?
Is neediness a turn-off?
What do you find beautiful?
How can we depend on God for our identity, not on you?
How can we help you with boundaries physically?

Many of the points she brought up I had already learned because I have been married to a man for just over 2 years now. But they were, in fact, things that perhaps would have benefited me to know prior to getting married (they would have saved me a lot of trial and error!). Other points I had no clue about and thus was able to learn a little more about the amazing man to whom I am married.

In the book, Rebecca shares things she has learned in her own dating life including the ins and outs of single life, struggles with loneliness, and dreams for the future. She challenges other women to view the men in their lives as brothers in Christ and to wholeheartedly place their dating lives in God’s more than capable hands.
