In 1970, Shirley Pepys pioneered the baby products industry by beginning NoJo (Noel Joanna, Inc.), a top baby bedding, accessories, and gear company. Years later, Shirley teamed up with her son Noel Pepys and Dr. William Sears (also known as “America’s Pediatrician”) and started Balboa Baby, a provider of contemporary, fashionable baby accessories including handy nursing covers and adjustable slings.
Balboa Baby is a giving company! They work with a variety of charities including Orangewood Children’s Foundation, KIDS (Kids in Distressed Situations), and Brooke’s Big Heart.
Balboa Baby sent us a nursing cover in the Brown Berry pattern to review.
At first glance, the cover looks kinda like a curvy apron. In fact, my parents say, “Where’s your apron thingy?” (*Snickering.”) I love the Brown Berry pattern that it dons. It’s neither girly nor masculine so it will work to nurse both my boys and any future girls I may be blessed with. 🙂
The cover has an adjustable buckle that can slide up and down to tighten or loosen the neck strap.
There is a simple pocket on the front that keeps things like nursing pads, burp cloths, or your cell phone handy.
The nursing cover has a structured, reinforced neckline that makes it possible for me to look down easily at my wee one while he’s nursing. This keeps me from wrestling with loose fabric to look down. The cover is also quite roomy–making it comfortable for both of us while keeping me thoroughly covered.
Overall, I find this nursing cover to be very convenient and easy to use! It is by far the best nursing cover I have ever tried. I highly recommend it as something to give as a gift to new moms at their baby shower or while they are in the hospital recovering from delivery.
