When I was given the chance to review a $705 faucet, my husband and I were both super excited! Especially because the faucet that came with our new home was old, ugly, and dripped CONSTANTLY.
The faucet that Danze blessed us with belongs to the elegant Antioch collection. It is the single-handle kitchen faucet with sprayer in the oil rubbed bronze finish.
Here's what our old faucet looked like. Outdated, ugly, covered in hard water crust, and super drippy (I was very proud of myself when I actually caught a drip mid-action!).
Installation of the new Danze faucet was a little challenging for my husband. The piping that came on the faucet was too short, so we had to purchase some extensions.
The Mister also discovered that the hot water valve was broken off beneath our sink. Note to selves: next time we think about purchasing a house, make sure all the valves are present under the sink. This illuminated another project for us to fix, but oh well–priority #552 on the list.
We did have to buy a couple of those hole covers to cover the two handle holes on either side of the new faucet. No biggie–they're cheap (about $2 each) and easy to install. Besides, we need to upgrade this sink eventually anyway.
Once installed, the faucet looked incredibly awesome! The Mister and I both really enjoy the design. It fits perfectly with our country home because it reminds us of an old-fashioned outdoor pump.
I love the design of the single handle. I can move it with my wrist or my arm which means that when my hands are covered in blood from opening a package of meat, I'm not getting the handle all germy (which is critical for me–I am semi-germophobic!).
At first, the neck of the faucet seemed really too long. But we soon discovered that this was actually helpful towards filling pitchers and even rinsing dishes.
The sprayer is just as pretty as the faucet.
The sprayer feels a bit heavy, illustrating that it's not a cheap $8 sprayer. And it works great to clean off fruits and veggies!
After the sink had been installed and in use for a couple of days, it all of a sudden came loose. I was worried something had broken, but my genius husband (literally–he has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering; that man knows all about things I can't even fathom) figured it out and fixed it in five minutes flat. There was a plastic piece inside with threads that had come loose (possibly in shipping). He twisted it back on and it was good to go again.
The faucet looks super sharp, rustic, and attractive. Plus it is sturdy and funcional. It makes a great addition to our country home. Now, we need only upgrade our sink with its extra holes (from the previous faucet), its stains, and its rust spots. And maybe the countertops…priorities #422 and #620, respectively. 😉
