Two brothers–Richard and Brad Caudles–founded Rock 'N Learn in 1986 with the vision of providing fun learning materials put to the sound of modern music. Today, Rock 'N Learn offers children over 50 educational DVDs and applications to help them learn with the fun and motivation of music.
Rock 'N Learn sent us their Letter Sounds DVD to review.
The DVD is full of lively, energetic characters from people and people-like animals to actual animals and even letters.
It features a series of fun, interactive learning games that help wee ones learn the sound of each letter. One exercise that I especially appreciate is this one. There is a view of a person's mouth forming the sound of each letter, which illustrates to the child how they are to move their mouth to make the sounds.
Although the DVD is labeled for ages 4 to 7, the Little Mister still enjoyed watching it and gleaned a lot from it. He can now say the alphabet from A through D!
In addition to fun characters and bright colors, the DVD is full of catchy music and lots of action–including dancing (the Little Mister LOVES to dance!). It successfully maintained the attention of my nearly 21-month-old toddler, so this makes the DVD top-rate in my opinion. I also love the fact that the program focuses on the phonics method of learning so that my child will be able to learn how to read ANY word.
